Church Extension Fund interest rates are based on a policy developed by the Department of Stewardship and Financial Ministries and approved by the Alberta-British Columbia Board of Directors.  The policy includes the following:

“That on the 25th of each month the Term Deposit and Savings Account rates of the  5 Major Banks operating in Canada (CIBC, Royal, BMO, Bank of Nova Scotia, & TD) be reviewed. And furthermore that an average be calculated and used as a comparison when determining the interest rates offered by CEF for the following month.

CEF will offer no less than 0.50% above, nor exceed 1.0% above the average deposit rates of the 5 major banks as calculated each month. And that CEF rates will be posted on the first of each month to reflect this policy.”
